This wiki is meant to house all documentation related to the UMBC Observatory. Please rely on this site for documentation on how to use the UMBC telescope as well as any hardware or software that's in use.

General notes for running tours and outreach events are stored under outreach.

All ideas related to the aspects of astronomy we deal with are discussed on this site.

Any projects currently undertaken by the Observatory Group are also discussed.

This site also serves as the ongoing weblog for activities in the UMBC Observatory. (See the left sidebar)

The Observatory Group is led by the Director and four team coordinators. They each perform administrative tasks to keep the group operating. See this page for more details.

Reading List

This server is a virtual machine setup by Roy Prouty through UMBC DoIT's Cisco UCS RSCh (research) VMWare Cluster. It has 2 cores, 8GB of memory, and 50GB of dedicated HDD space. It is linked to DoIT's Enterprise Research Storage which makes a 1TB volume available over NFS. Any of these hardware specs are changeable. For access to this machine, contact Roy.

Gabriel has installed and configured this DokuWiki instance. Any modifications from the default settings are logged in a git repository.
