======20231103========== =====Time===== 0510-0800 =====Attendance===== Bill, Katie, Tara, Roy =====Spaces Occupied===== PHYS 401, 433C, Dome =====Goals===== - =====Frame Table===== ^ Time Observed ^ Source Name ^ Filter ^ Int Time [s] ^ Mag (filter) ^ RA [h] ^ DEC [deg] ^ Source Type ^ Purpose ^ | 20231103T0522| Procyon (HD 61421) | G | e.g., 3 | 0.4(V) | 7.75| 5 | Star | Pointing/PICSARR | | =====Log===== - Normal start-up procedures - Moved to Procyon - Focusing - Starting Focus: 2611.4 - Ending focus is 2611 - Achieving 15-17 pix FWHM - using phd2 autoguiding with RA tracking rate of 15.011 arcsec/sec - after we turned on autoguiding, the FWHM reported by sharpcap dropped to between 5 and 6.5 pix - saving all data to internal Z drive - On Procyon - using subarray 1200x250 pan 48, tilt 914 - bin 1, mono16, .ser files, gain 279, brightness 40 - 2 sequences of 120s each in u and g filters, taken before timing calibration - sequences also taken without .CameraSetting files - Moved to Venus - Note, needed to disable autoguiding between sequences to adjust source in frame. Venus does not move with stars, so PHD2 guiding on stars doesn't keep Venus centered - For all: TurboUSB at 100 (auto set to OFF) and High speed mode off - U filter - using subarray 1600x800 pan 48, tilt 640 - bin 1, mono16, .ser files, gain 279, brightness 40 - 2 sequences of 120s each in u filter, taken before timing calibration - have .CameraSetting files - G filter - using subarray 1600x800 pan 48, tilt 640 - bin 1, mono16, .ser files, gain 100, brightness 40 - 2 sequences of 120s each in g filter, taken before timing calibration - have .CameraSetting files - Z filter - using subarray 1600x800 pan 48, tilt 640 - bin 1, mono16, .ser files, gain 200, brightness 40 - 2 sequences of 120s each in z filter, taken before timing calibration - have .CameraSetting files - Another 2x120s in U - Same settings as above - Slewed to LAWD 73 (GrW +708247) - We expect this to be too dim to see with $12\mu s$ int time, so we slewed to something we could see (Polaris) to ensure pointing was correct. LAWD 73 is 13 mag, so we didn't want to just do a long exposure with the sky getting bright - We call this process "Going In Blind" - AND the SIMBAD ICRS RA & DEC were based on J2000, not J2023.5 (DFMTCS) - We slewed to Polaris in J2023.5 - Then trusted that J2000 --> J2023.5 didn't change much with a proper motion of LAWD 73 at ~80mas/yr =====ToDo===== =====Notes===== * With ASI 178 pixel scale at $2.4\mu{m}/{pix}$, PICSARR should have angular res of $0.0317 pix/\mu{m} \times 2.4\mu{m}/{pix} = 0.076"/pix$ * Using DFM TCS and TS6 to give slew commands allowed scope to bypass limits on RA movement * This led to wires beginning to wrap -- we need to pay attention to this in the future =====Weather===== At end of night - 9C in Dome - 4C ambient - -27.6C sky temp - 65% humidity =====Data=====
