[20:18:58] SESSION START
[20:18:58] obs arrival Jason
[20:18:58] obs arrival Sairi
[20:18:58] Active instrument: PICSI2
[20:21:06] Currently waiting to reach target temp, done with dome set up, will take darks in a moment
[20:44:53] Reached target temp of -4 starting dark capture Darks_15s_G150_r
[20:52:27] Starting Darks_10s_G150_r
[21:01:01] Darks_4s_G150_r
[21:01:20] Started Darks_4s_G150_r
[21:04:44] Started Darks_600ms_G150_r
[21:06:08] Started Darks_70ms_G150_r
[21:07:04] Started Darks_15ms_G150_r
[21:08:59] Darks are done, going into the dome to open door and put fan out, also will open dome and mirror doors.
[21:11:11] Opening up the GUI as well
[21:12:09] Having trouble opening the dome will update in a moment
[21:13:55] Dome will not open even after we restarted the ascom dome control
[21:14:17] Reaching out to vincent to troubleshoot
[21:20:58] We have restarted the ASCOM dome control but are still having problems. Focus currently says it is zero also which i remember was a discussion in operator chat. It matches the disscusion with it not getting past the focus stage
[21:23:22] Resolved solution was in operator chat
[21:24:02] Pressing the cancel button stopped the start up focus sequence which was the problem
[21:25:38] Testing pointing by slewing to Eta boo
[21:27:31] Pointing is off slewiing to arcturus to point
[21:32:06] using plate solving to find current location
[21:37:09] Using astrastrometry.net we found it
[21:42:13] pointing is done, focus needed to be changed to see the star when we went to do it we ran into another problem will troubleshoot.
[21:45:51] Hi sorry to bother again but we are now running into issues with focusing. When trying to change focus via DFM TCS in misc we ran into problems as the application would not respond. We had some success moving focus with the paddle from 2050 to 2166.6 but got stuck.
[22:36:28] the following is a log of communications that happened
[22:36:54] The focus does not go higher
[22:36:54] Set it to 1730
[22:36:54] For some reason it has changed and it is weird
[22:36:54] Percy [CSM], 21:47
[22:36:54] Focus is an arbitrary value and it's accepted range recently changed for a reason we don't yet know
[22:36:54] Like sterling said we've been using 1730 and adjusting from there as needed
[22:36:54] Observatory UMBC 21:48
[22:36:54] Its stuck we can not change the focus at all.
[22:36:54] Percy [CSM], 21:48
[22:36:54] Is there a task message in the bottom of DFM
[22:36:54] Observatory UMBC 21:49
[22:36:54] No there is not
[22:36:54] Percy [CSM], 21:49
[22:36:54] Will dfm slew to zenith?
[22:36:54] Observatory UMBC 21:49
[22:36:54] No it will not ????
[22:36:54] Percy [CSM], 21:49
[22:36:54] Bc if it can. Turn off tracking, slew to zenith. And reboot dfm
[22:36:54] Observatory UMBC 21:49
[22:36:54] what is happening
[22:36:54] Percy [CSM], 21:49
[22:36:54] Are the motors turned on
[22:36:54] Observatory UMBC 21:50
[22:36:54] yes
[22:36:54] Percy [CSM], 21:50
[22:36:54] No switches were accidentally flipped?
[22:36:54] Observatory UMBC 21:50
[22:36:54] No we will send a picture in a moment
[22:36:54] Percy [CSM], 21:50
[22:37:24] And the motor button in the top right is also not pushed in
[22:37:24] Observatory UMBC 21:51
[22:37:24] yes
[22:37:24] Percy [CSM], 21:52
[22:37:24] Then close the application. And reboot. If there's an issue with pointing, use plate solving on the finder scope to identify the general neighborhood for coordinates and point that way
[22:37:24] All 3 applications
[22:37:24] Close the dome first though
[22:37:24] [CSM],
[22:37:24] Observatory UMBC 21:54
[22:37:24] yeaaaa that's not working either.
[22:37:24] Percy [CSM], 21:54
[22:37:24] Are you able to slew the telescope as closely as possible to zenith?
[22:37:24] [CSM],
[22:37:24] Observatory UMBC 21:56
[22:37:24] No, the paddel DFM and Sky 6 are all not able to move the telescope
[22:37:25] Connor (Gecko Guy) 21:57
[22:37:25] Is the telescope too close to the horizon?
[22:37:25] Horizon limit light is on
[22:37:25] Observatory UMBC 21:57
[22:37:25] no we are at 67 alt
[22:37:25] rn
[22:37:25] braydn 21:59
[22:37:25] Yea I think best course of action is restarting all the applications and see if that fixes anything
[22:37:25] Observatory UMBC 22:01
[22:37:25] hey before we do that another info piece we just got was that we are able to move the telescope with the paddle but the slew button is not working
[22:37:25] braydn 22:02
[22:37:25] Does the set button work
[22:37:25] Observatory UMBC 22:02
[22:37:25] yes
[22:37:25] braydn 22:02
[22:37:25] Connor (Gecko Guy) 22:03
[22:37:25] If you can get there it might be wise to power off the motor driver chassis while you re closing apps
[22:37:25] braydn 22:05
[22:37:25] This guy Connor is so smart
[22:37:25] braydn 22:20
[22:37:25] How s it going
[22:37:25] Observatory UMBC 22:20
[22:37:25] Almost at zenith
[22:37:25] Observatory UMBC 22:27
[22:37:25] we are at 89 degrees
[22:37:25] Disconnecting and reconnecting the ASCOM dome control allowed us to close the dome and mirror doors, And also we pressed cancle button
[22:37:25] Focus is able to change as well
[22:37:25] Thank you for your help @Connor (Gecko Guy) @braydn @Percy going to continue on with the night as normal. & @Sterling Olson
[22:37:25] Observatory UMBC 22:35
[22:37:25] Note: DO NOT try to move focus above 2050 with the paddle.
[22:37:46] Pointing again
[22:42:38] focus is now 1730 and we can see
[22:42:59] opeing up GUI
[22:48:52] slewed to Eta boo and started capture after adjusting focus to 1721
[23:12:47] slewed to HD15445 and started capture at 2301
[23:13:12] slewing to OQ 334
[23:15:35] Getting up Gaia source finder
[23:20:51] Started single 120s exposure capture
[23:25:02] Did not see any stars in the fisrt capture trying again
[23:33:57] Started OQ 334 capture
[23:43:15] auto dome is moving and obscured the camera for 45s
[23:44:55] auto dome not working obscured camera for about 2 mins
[23:45:26] will fix when we move to HD154445
[00:51:14] RealVNc viewer disconected unexpectedly
[01:19:02] Slewing to HD 154445
[01:21:26] Started Capture of HD 154445
[01:22:38] obs arrival Percy
[01:22:49] Obs arrival Braydn
[01:23:05] obs departure sairi
[01:43:57] hD154445 CAPTURE COMPLETED QUITE A WHILE AGO.
[01:45:32] Currently using the gaia script to confirm the existence of bl lac within the capture area
[01:48:56] Bl lac confirmed
[01:49:58] Beginning captures of bl lac
[03:36:36] Bl lac capture complete
[03:37:48] Slewing to UCAC4 778-040054
[03:38:26] Acquired, beginning capture of UCAC4 778-040054
[04:13:54] UCAC4 778-040054 capture complete
[04:14:03] Beginning captures of bl lac
[04:14:35] This will take us right up to the end of the observing session
